VRB’s weekly list of things to read, watch, listen to, and try that have helped us live better and be better. Brought to you this week by Chase Hobby.

Kings of Kings

Listen to Kings of Kings - the story of the Persian empire. For most of us, our knowledge of the Persian empire is relatively limited to the 'bad guys' in stories of the Spartans and Roman Empire. Well, it turns out that the Achaemenid Persian empire is one of the most impressive societies we've had on this planet. Reading Before Bed

Try reading before bed. Reading before bedtime has been extraordinarily helpful for me in terms of improving sleep duration and quality. It helps to limit screen time, decreases anxiety, and can promote peaceful mind states along with the litany of other benefits associated with reading (e.g. protecting against age-related cognitive decline). Pro-tip: make it a good fiction paired with VRBs Rest Blend about 45 minutes prior to when you want to be asleep.
